About Dalyan

Dalyan is a picturesque town located on the southwestern coast of Turkey, in the Muğla Province. It is known for its natural beauty, historic sites, and relaxed atmosphere. Here is some tourist information about Dalyan:

  1. Iztuzu Beach: One of the main attractions in Dalyan is Iztuzu Beach, a stunning stretch of golden sand that is also a protected nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta). The beach is accessible by boat or by a scenic road that passes through a delta.
  2. Dalyan River: The Dalyan River flows through the town and offers scenic boat trips. You can take a boat tour to explore the river, visit the ancient city of Kaunos, see the famous Lycian rock tombs, and even take a mud bath at the Dalyan Mud Baths.
  3. Lycian Rock Tombs: Dalyan is home to impressive Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliffs dating back to the 4th century BC. These tombs are an iconic symbol of Dalyan and can be seen from the river or visited up close.
  4. Kaunos Ancient City: Located across the river from Dalyan, the ancient city of Kaunos is an archaeological site that dates back to the 9th century BC. You can explore the ruins of this once-thriving city, including a theater, Roman baths, and a Hellenistic agora.
  5. Thermal Springs: Dalyan is known for its therapeutic thermal springs. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing bath in the hot mineral-rich waters, which are believed to have healing properties.
  6. Boat Tours: Dalyan offers various boat tours along the river, including trips to the beach, turtle-watching tours, and sunset cruises. These tours provide an opportunity to enjoy the stunning natural scenery and observe the local wildlife.
  7. Dalyan Town: The town itself is charming, with a laid-back atmosphere and a range of restaurants, cafes, and shops. Strolling through the town, you can experience the local culture, try traditional Turkish cuisine, and browse local handicrafts.
  8. Outdoor Activities: Dalyan is a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Besides boat tours, you can engage in activities like hiking, cycling, and bird-watching in the surrounding countryside.

It’s important to note that travel information can change, so it’s always a good idea to check for the latest updates, local regulations, and guidelines before planning your trip to Dalyan.

Perfect stay – thank you

Absolutely lovely house with everything we needed during our 10 day stay. Great communication from the owner; very comfortable rooms and a perfect, large pool set in a beautiful garden. Very private and quiet location. We had no need of a car as the house is a quick trip by very reasonable and incredibly prompt taxis, or bike (provided) ride into Dalyan town. Walking distance to town, although best avoided in the high heat of summer! Teenagers very happy with the WIFI (and Playstation) but nothing could beat the appeal for all of us of watching the swallows and bats swooping around the palms at sunset from beside the pool. We’d love to return as there is so much to do in the area, and we would most definitely book here again.

‘Having just returned from Villa D’Louca, we can honestly say it was probably the most relaxing holiday we have had (being older we’ve had few !!). The garden and pool area are immaculate, and we spent most of the time admiring the view from the raised terrace every morning and evening.

The main bedroom is lovely and cool, and the bed is comfortable. Not the hard beds we have encountered before when abroad.

The area is set back from the road, and is lined with beautiful palm trees. Set in country/farm setting the area is very quiet and incredibly private. We hired a moped which takes a few mins to whizz into town. There are local shops before town which stock essentials, and the supermarkets and butchers are brilliant for fresh food and good quality meat.

The villa gives you the best of both worlds, total tranquillity with a well-stocked kitchen and bar area, but locally you can find lovely restaurants and shops if you fancy a change of scenery.

The company who looks after the villa are discreet and very professional, they cleaned the pool every day (but never heard anyone arriving). So that was real positive.

Thanks Nick for your help with our booking, transfers and hamper. We will be back in touch for 2020.

Exceptional Villa ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Fantastic villa, clean and well equipped. Beautiful location, very quiet. Quite a distance to walk into Dalyan, with no pavements on the main road. Taxis were mainly used at a cost of 15 – 20 TRL per trip. It was our second trip to Dalyan and we enjoyed it just as much as our first visit. Excellent restaurants and once again we took some trips with Ali “Sultan of Dalyan” on his boat – well worth the money with an excellent lunch provided.Nick Hicklin, the owner, was very helpful in allowing us to arrive early at the villa as our airport arrival was at 3.05 am. Kaunos Tours were used for airport transfers which I can highly recommend. An excellent holiday all round!. Sonja Greaves Aug 2015
